The War Begins, Part 1 (from The DeSade Files)

As Lillith and Kane walked around the hallowed grounds of New Orleans, he knew they wouldn't be going back. Kane had made his peace with leaving Scotland years ago, he knew that if he stayed, he wouldn't live much longer. He never minded the thought of his own death, at the hands of The Order, but now, he has a fiancee, he has his daughter back.
He could feel the anger coming off her. Yet, it was his very own daughter, Ana, that would put Lillith’s mind to ease. Lillith had become quite suspicious of Kane over the past few days, the late night phone calls, the secrecy. She was scared that Kane was cheating on her. Every time she would bring it up, Kane would quickly change the subject. He didn’t want her to know what his true intentions for moving.

Lillith overheard one phone call that sent her crying. “It’s all done,” Kane said, coldly. “The plan shall be put into place tonight.” Lillith ran to the bathroom crying, “this is it. He’s going to leave me. I shouldn't have been so stupid as to think a creature as wonderful as him, could really love me. He’s a demon, I’m a human, I should have know it was all a scam.”
Sensing he pain, Kane thought to himself, “it’s time I told her the truth. I’ve come close to killing her, but all I wanted to do was to protect her, and my family. If I don’t tell her soon, I’ll destroy it.” This cause Kane to start breaking down, the demon shedding tears for the first time in centuries.
“Lillith, we need to talk,” Kane said, knocking on the door, “I have something to tell you.” Panic washed all over Lillith’s body, almost making her paralyzed in fear. “C-c-come i-i-i-n,” Lillith sobbed. Kane knew she was upset, but seeing the state Lillith was in, destroyed him. “Lillith, there’s something important I have to tell you,” Kane said in a low tone. “You’re going to leave me, aren’t you?” Liliith sobbed, as she was reaching for a nail file sharp enough to cut through her skin.
“No!” Kane said emphatically, “Lillith, I would never leave you, you are my family, it kills me to see you like this, but I had to protect you from what I was about to do.” Lillith stopped sobbing, and gave Kane a quizzical look, as she dried her eyes. “Lillith, we aren’t going back to Scotland. Those phone calls, they were dad, and some of my friends. Our belongings, including our weapons, have been put in a safe transport. It’s time I came clean about our sudden trip to New Orleans.”
Kane had Lillith’s full attention. “Lillith, we were in more danger than you even thought, I received this, with a bloody dagger, in the door.” Kane hands Lillith the note: “We’re here. Your woman will be raped, we’ll start with your daughter. You will beg for our mercy. We are many. We do not forgive. We do not forget.” Kane sighed, “I had to get you out. I did it under the guise of a vacation, but meeting our friend Lilith was actually not part of the plan, but it worked to my favor. You see, Lillith, I was in the process of getting Ana over here, when they attacked. That’s when I knew it was time. Thankfully, we got that offer. They came close to raping my daughter, if they would have been successful, they would have raped you.”
A wave of anger washed over Lillith Winwrite, “Kane! We need to go back now, and kill them all.” Kane had to stop Lillith, “my love, all will be well soon, they have a nasty surprise waiting on them.” “Kane, what do you mean,” Lillith inquired, “what are you planning?” Kane had a devious smile on his face. “Explosives. My friends got together, and the house is bombed. It’s rigged to go off, when they reach our bedroom. This way, I know they are all inside, and none will make it out alive.” Lillith, too, had a devious smile on her face, as she embraced Kane, knowing, the war was about to begin.
